Wearside Pneumatics becomes an Atlas CopcoCompressors Premier Distributor
Wearside Pneumatics, based in Gateshead, is celebrating its appointment as a premier distributor for Atlas Copco Compressors in the North East of England. This promotion means that Wearside Pneumatics, formerly a Class 1 distributor, now offers the supply and installation of Atlas Copco's full range of energy-efficient industrial compressors, rough vacuum pumps, nitrogen generators and spare parts.
Commenting on Wearside's achievement, General Manager, Dean Horn, who has been with the business since he was 16, said: “Becoming a premier distributor represents another significant milestone in our history that both strengthens our relationship with Atlas Copco and expands the range of energy efficient solutions we are able provide to customers. The company now has access to Atlas Copco's rotary screw stationary compressors from 2kW up to 315 kW, including VSD and VSD+ variants, scroll and piston compressors, rough vacuum pumps and nitrogen generators, as well as compressed air treatment equipment, spare parts, pipework and accessories. Additionally, the company operates customer services such as preventative maintenance, repairs and reconditioning, air audits, leak detection and air quality testing.
Wearside Pneumatics was established in 1974 and has gained notability across the North East region as a leading distributor of pneumatic and compressed air solutions. In 2000 the business became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Copco premier distributor Precision Pneumatics, based in Merseyside, and thereby took on authorised dealer status, later elevated to Class 1 distributor, for Atlas Copco compressor sales and service.
With a 40-year business history and highly experienced workforce, Wearside Pneumatics serves a wide customer base of industrial companies in the region, including major players in the food and beverage sector. In addition, the company derives a significant part of its business working with equipment suppliers and subcontracting companies serving the region's large vehicle manufacturing sector.
In order to increase its compressor servicing capacity, Wearside Pneumatic moved in November 2013 from its original Washington site to a larger new home on the Team Valley Trading Estate in Gateshead. In pursuit of new business opportunities, the company is undertaking a recruitment drive to add more engineering staff to its current 8-strong workforce.
